Befores, afters and in betweens

Aunt Olivia claims that we found a diamond in the rough with buying our house. We saw what great potential it had, but didn't realize how much work it required. We have put so much work into it, but yet have so much more to do. Each room is desperate of wall hangings.. I'll get to it one day. I will present to you what we have accomplished thus far... and will continue to post updates as we achieve more goals we have to making this house just the way we want it.

First we will start with our bedroom. It used to be a mossy color greenish? Maybe that wouldn't be a good description of the color. For some reason they began to paint the baseboard and then I guess decided that was too much work and decided to stop. We finished what they started after painting it blue.

Next, we will move onto the Master bathroom. Where to begin telling this task?! I'll let the pictures explain that. For the record, I take no credit except for painting. Jacky is the MAN!

In Between.

New lights!

The guest bedroom.. Have lots of things to hang. Obviously, we haven't gotten to that yet. :) Above the cedar chest I have an idea of hanging two long white floating shelves with old vintage pictures of our grandparents. I have a tendency of changing ideas.. We'll see if that lasts. I may make it more modern chic?? If you have ideas.. pass them this way. We'll see. Above the bed, my plan is to use my dear friend Amy Lou's photography to make the wall beautiful.

The guest bathroom.. My, oh my! Off goes the shower door--on with a shower curtain! Shower curtains are expensive.. (thats because I'm cheap) and I had a couple picked out but couldn't bring myself to buy them, so we found this one at Bed Bath & Beyond on clearance for $9.00...Sold.

The office...

The living room... Plan is to get a large area rug to cover our terrible carpet (which will one day be hardwood floors). I also plan to get the matching love seat.. or chair and ottoman... OR I just don't know yet.

Before.

Excuse the mess..
After.

The outside.. white shutters on a gray house?! Nahh. We'll go with black... and some snow. :)

I will update with some of the other rooms another day: kitchen, Jacky's room downstairs, dining area.. Those are for another day. Welcome to the King's house.

Joining the club of blogging..

Or at least attempting to. We'll see how long this lasts. After keeping up with Tripp and Laura with their blog, I officially convinced myself I should try it out. Why not, right?! Life can be too entertaining not to share with others. One thing we discussed in children's church a couple weeks ago is when you have joys in life you are to share them.. not keep them to yourselves. The point was to make it clear to children to tell others about the greatest joy, Jesus Christ.

Onto something else.. Jacky and I are approaching our ONE year anniversary, which will be this Sunday (January 16th). Time has flown this past year, but I can say it has been an incredibly unforgettable year. I will go on to tell why later.. We have heard many say that the first year is the hardest. We have decided that if that is a true statement we are doing pretty good! I studied about marriages and families a lot in school, but its quite different when you are experiencing it yourself. I have found it to be an incredible gift from God. He has been incredibly gracious to us over the past year of being married. More gracious than we are deserve, but isn't he always?! This is why our year has been so great and definitely unforgettable..

1. Got married.. :)

2. Joined an incredible church.. which has been so good to us. (Stuart Heights Baptist Church)

3. I (Cayte) got a job working in the children's ministry at church. - Extremely rewarding!
4. Bought a new car.. will be the family car... but no children in the near future. :)
5. Bought a house!

6. David IV was born.. our newest nephew and such a bundle of joy that I can't get enough of.

7. Had the worst stomach virus you can imagine on my (Cayte) birthday... But praise Jesus for another one.
8. Spent our first Christmas with our wonderful King family: Big Jacky, Mom, Jacinta, Evan and Evangelina.. AND it was a white Christmas!! Then had Tripp, Laura and Baby David at our house for three wonderful nights! Wonderful, wonderful Christmas!

9. Stood next to three of my closest friends as they married the love of their life: Catherine Garner, Ashley Rice and Rachel Wynne.
10. Started the new year with our wonderful adopted Chattanooga family, the Russells!
11. Spending our ONE year anniversary with a bad case of bronchitis (Cayte) and Jacky a cold.. Needless to say, we had to cancel our anniversary plans. We still plan to enjoy the day in the luxury of our own home with our precious dog, Zoey.. and praising our sweet sweet Jesus for such a wonderful year of marriage!!!

Well folks that is it for our first blog! :)
